Aircraft Wheel Operation

Thursday, March 5th, 2009

Aircrafts are hard to design and build. Modern tools are required for building these heavy vehicles. One single aircraft takes years to be produced and comes out of the airbase only after continuous building effort of big engineers and mechanics. Wheels play an important role in the operation of aircraft. Without these wheels aircrafts won’t be able to stand on the land. Wheels help the aircraft to slide on the highway and fly into the air. The wheels of aircrafts are supported by the shock absorbers. Without these perfect shock absorbers aircrafts won’t be able to balance their movement.

Engineers use special tools for repairing the wheels. Generally lifting the wheels of aircraft and repairing them is a difficult task. For such operations mechanics use plane jack. This jack acts takes support of the ground and lifts the wheels for repair. Plane jack has the ability to lift the aircraft wheel without causing any damage to it.

It eliminates the stress on the plane and makes repair easy. Aircraft battery chargers have the ability to increase strength of the powerful airplane batteries. These chargers are unlike ordinary vehicle chargers. They have high energy generating potential. Mechanics take utmost care in repairing the aircrafts and use only sophisticated tools for repair.

Scooter Performance Ways

Thursday, March 5th, 2009

Do you have a scooter and its not running well? Have you got your scooter checked through an automobile expert? Some of your scooter parts might not be working in alignment and need either overhauling or a complete replacement. Remember! Your scooter is a self – propelled machine in your control, and just like any other automobile it also needs piston, accelerator, break shoe, to keep it working smoothly and smartly. Scooter parts such as carburetor, oil seals, and wheel ball bearings also serve to add performance and life to your scooter engine. Today, with advancement in technology, different scooter component manufacturing companies are coming out with low cost options on scooter spares.

These also include, quality performance scooter batteries, providing real thrust and energy to move the machine higher speeds and with fast pick up too! Acid and gel batteries are two most popular genre of batteries used in scooter. Scooter battery lights the headlamp, and sparks the ignition to provide the engine with its first start. Remember, in order to keep your scooter in a perfect and healthy condition, it is necessary that your scooter battery remains always charged. It would be a sane idea if you get it checked from any standard automobile’s outlet.

Fast Cars Basics

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

Cars are just cool. They are truly a magnificent piece of technology. They can be slow and safe vehicles for soccer moms in some incarnations and incredible speed machines in others. Fast cars are really interesting for just about anyone. Even people who aren’t mechanically inclined should find the field an interesting thing to study. Learning about the intricacies of car customization is one fun hobby that can have some great products. There isn’t much better than having your own fast car.

If you are really interested but don’t know where to start, then you can look at a few places online. A number of store are centered around hot cars and they have all of the parts and pieces that you could eventually need. One of the best ways to learn is to merely immerse yourself in the world and find out everything that you can. This will also make it easier to then jump into discussions with slightly more experienced car buffs. Knowing the basics is always a good idea.

Once you have the basics down, you should be ready to go. You can then look around the website for tips and tricks on ways to customize an existing car, or you could even start looking for your own hot rod to start working on. The choice is yours.

Airforce Academy?

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

I’m 15 how do I get in? What will prepare me and if I go will I have a better chance at being a fighter pilot? I want to be a pilot

Get good grades, take standardized tests as many times as necessary to get a good score (and you can take your best math score, english score, and writing scores from completely different SATs to create your highest score) participate in extracurriculars, find people that will write good references for you. From there you’ll just have to apply for a nomination and to the academy. If you get accepted pending nomination, then make sure to let the panel know….you’ll be more likely to GET the nomination. Thousands apply each year, and around 1300 are accepted.

Once at the academy, your chances of becoming a pilot are far better than through the other commissioning sources. In the past, the academy has gotten as many pilot slots as ROTC…..but ROTC usually produces at least twice as many officers. In 2005, the academy was unable to find enough people that wanted to fly to fill all its’ pilot slots.

Assuming you graduate and get a pilot slot, the next part is pilot training. Don’t do anything stupid—there are a few every year that lose their wings before they even got them. Work hard in pilot training. The driving factors in selection are your performance and needs of the Air Force. You can only control one of those. You’ll have to pass a physical test to fly fighters, but it is based on percentaged of body weight and is relatively easy. Unless you are both weak AND somewhat overweight, you’ll pass. It is far easier than the Physical Fitness Test at the Academy….so if you graduate, then you’ll have no problems unless you really let yourself go. So don’t sweat it. You will also need the recommendation of your flight commander…..which if you have generally avoided doing any really stupid things as I suggested before…..you’ll get.

Then down to the nitty gritty. Depending on where you go to pilot training, you’ll be looking at around 10-25 people in your class. My class was one of the bigger ones (Columbus AFB). We got 4 fighter/bomber slots, 3 C-130 slots, one Helo, and the rest heavies. This was generally about the breakdown at the time, but a couple classes behind me got a drop of 9 fighter/bomber in a slightly smaller class. You’re not going to know what it’s like until you actually get your slot, so do your best to leave yourself the best opportunity.

On that note, get as much flying experience as you can starting now. Almost all the top third of a class will consist of people with a bit of flight time. I’d suggest Civil Air Patrol. A guy in my class got 1200 hours for free with the Civil Air Patrol. He did very well in pilot training. Of the top third of our class (8 people) only a couple of them came straight to pilot training without first getting a few hundred hours somewhere. Only one person in the bottom third had that sort of flying time.

2005 Academy grad, AF pilot

……………

Thank you for investigating serving your country. Not many adults have a vector on what they want to do; for a teenager to be seriously thinking about a career is OUTSTANDING.
First off, recruiters DO recruit officer candidates for Officer Training School. Here’s the highlights:
The Academy competition is stiff; each year they accept about 400 applications out of 2000 applying. You’ll need outstanding grades (not necessarily perfect), good record of participation in extracurricular activities/volunteer work, and a recommendation from your congressperson, or least an active/retired Colonel.
Normally there’s more pilot slots allocated to the Academy than the other commissioning sources. Becoming a fighter pilot is all about “needs of the Air Force”, your class ranking and personal preferences-not your commissioning source.
Fighter assignments don’t normally come down in large numbers; a lot would be 4-5 out of a class of 35-40 students. So it behooves one to get as near the top of one’s class as possible. Highest ranked students get to select what they want-MOST of the time. It’s also possible your class will get none (happened to the Nav school class two behind mine as a matter of fact), or several.
The vast majority of officers of all services come out of ROTC. You sign up like any other college class: they also have full-ride scholarships available. Officer Training School is the third way; you apply when within one year of college graduation.
Best ways to prep now are get those grades up, participate in something like JROTC or Civil Air Patrol-and show some leadership. Also, consider starting some flying lessons, if your parents approve and you can afford it. BIG plus in your application package.

Retired F4 WSO. Officers are NOT commissioned by Congress. They are commissioned by the President as Commander in Chief. The President routinely delegates this responsibility to the SecDef. The Senate confirms the list of Regular Officers

……………….

Air Force and Navy (military) pilot program is probably the MOST difficult program (college) that is out there. Here are the steps

(1) get great scores in HS
(2) stay out of trouble (no underage drinking, etc.)
(3) get a commission (recommendation) from a U.S. congressman
(4) get accepted to AF/Navy program
(5) study hard
(6) graduate
(7) fly
(8) be happy.

Only officers become pilots. And only college grads become officers. The competition to become AF/Navy pilot is fearce.
===
Don’t go to military recruiters. They don’t recruit officers. Officers are COMMISSIONED by congressmen (YES THE FEDERAL US CONGRESS)

P.S. Talk to your school guidance counselor. They would know for sure exactly what to do.

Help with subwoofers! What amp should I get in order to get the best hard hitting bass from my subs?

Saturday, July 19th, 2008

I got two 600 Watt Subwoofers, what kind of amp do I need. does a 600 Watt amp give 600 Watt per channel?

it will say so on the amp. if its a 2 channel amp and it says something like:

600Watts x2 @2 ohms

then that means each channel put out 600 watts.

if its a mono amp then there is only one channel and whatever the wattage is is how much that channel will produce.

but you could have something like 400 Watts RMS
100Watts x4 at 4ohms

and that amp would be a 400 watts RmS amp, but only at 100 watts per cannel.

…………..

Well you do not need to run 600 watts to each channel. An a 600 watt amp usual means that is what the amp is capable of of pushing over a single channel, im not entirely sure about that. What i am sure of is that you need to meet the rms wattage of the subs, other wise they with sound well under powered. The choice of an amp depends on the voice coil on the subs and how else you plan on wiring them. The type and brand of amp is usual a personal choice, but the type of amp should probably be a 2 channel or mono channel amp if your just going to be running subs. Well i hope i may have help a little good luck

theres a good variety mtx ,kicker,i have a hifonics and a memphis hooked up to my jl audio

Sea foaming a jeep cherokee sport?

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

I have a ‘98 jeep cherokee sport. I was considering sea foaming it, after my friend recently sea foamed his honda and got much better throttle response and his car now idles better. Is this a good idea, or should i just leave it alone?
Specs: 4.0L inline 6 engine with 140000 miles…

It works well. Follow the directions correctly , sucking up a straight shot of any fluid can hydrolock the motor and break a piston. Just pour it into the vac line, or down the throttle body s-l-o-w-l-y. 1/3 intake, 1/3 gas tank, 1/3 oil pan is the recommended treatment, usually good to do it a week before an oil change.

Some of the “snake oils” really do work. It’s just a matter of understanding they can’t do miracles - if it’s been 25,000 since your last tuneup, new plugs, etc wouldn’t hurt either.

Asc Auto Tech, ASE Parts, ‘90 XJ owner.

…………..

I definitely recommend. Just unhook your brake vacuum line and stick into the bottle of sea foam. Let it idle and suck up the sea foam till the motor dies. Wait approx. 5 minutes, then start and drive around the block using a good amount of throttle. Then poor the remainder of the can into the oil. Drive around for a few minutes. After doing all this you will need an oil change, new plugs. Your car will run like brand new.

avid sea foam user.

………..

Sea foaming is often a temporary fix you may nedd you infectors physically cleaned, maybe you have a vacum leack, maybe ur fuel filter is clogged. Additives are generally a hokey fix to a problem that deserves more atten, but at 140,000 miles you may want the quick fix idk

Auto Insurance

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

The internet is a great resource that makes it easier than ever before to find affordable auto insurance. There are some clever tips you can use to help get the coverage you need, without having to spend too much. Your deductible is the amount you pay when you make a claim before your insurance company pays. Raising your deductible is the best way to keep your annual insurance costs down. You can also choose to drop your collision or comprehensive insurance if your car is not worth that much to begin with. That is because the amount you pay for the deductible plus the amount you pay for the insurance may be more than the value of the car itself.

If you buy a lower profile vehicle you can also receive coverage at a lower rate. This is because high value vehicles are often common targets for theft, or are just more expensive to repair so they will generally cost more to insure. When shopping for health insurance you should pay careful attention to which doctors and hospitals are part of your provider network. You should also take note of any limitations on pre-existing conditions or waiting periods before your coverage begins.

Aviation Maps

Friday, February 29th, 2008

Today there are lots of different Aviation GPS units on the market, but this leaves many pilots confused as to the right unit to buy. The good thing for pilots looking to use digital aviation maps is that most of the GPS systems are really easy to use. But, the flip side is that the more sky charts you add the more difficult the system is to use. You just want one that will make it easy to navigate the aviation maps without having to take a course. That’s because air navigation charts added to your system increases the learning curve and just takes longer to learn all the ins and outs.
Basically, what you want to look for with an aviation GPS is a system that is intuitive. That means that you can easily anticipate what steps you are supposed to take when you are entering routes or waypoints. You don’t want a system that is impossible to figure out or that will take you months of studying. You just want one that will make it easy to navigate the aviation maps without having to take a course. The most important aspects are a GPS that is intuitive and easy to use without having to look at the keys.
